47 Book MOMO (1972)

Michael Ende (Germany, 1929)

“Momo” is a delightful story worth reading in these times; it’s a magical adventure that makes you ponder. The plot follows Momo, a girl who enters the world with all the innocence, wisdom, and an extraordinary gift: she knows how to listen. It leaves us with a great lesson for today, where immediacy permeates everything we do. In the story, Momo has to face some peculiar humans, which helps us question whether we have become one of them: grey humans, stressed by haste, productivity, and the passage of time.

🧐Although it’s aimed at the “young,” adults should also carve out space to enjoy and reflect with Momo. Knowing her story makes you feel like embracing her, living in her world, and savouring life at her pace.

🫣I plead guilty; haste has always been my sin, but fortunately, my favourite human is my Momo. Seeing him enjoying life at his own pace makes me slow down so as not to miss the details of life’s journey.

❤️This timeless work, beyond being a fantastic adventure, offers a profound reflection on the value of time and human connection. “Momo” is a captivating book that takes you on an unforgettable journey, reminding you of the beauty of every second and the importance of appreciating the authentic bonds that enrich our existence.

✍🏽Words that resonate with me:

  • “If humans knew what death is, then they would no longer fear it. And if they were not afraid of it, then no one could ever steal their time of life again.”

Thank you for reading.

Have a great day! 😘
