Epstein List: Guilty by Association? (January 2024)

A few weeks ago, we stumbled upon a bunch of posts claiming to have a list of individuals associated with Epstein, the financier who ended up in prison for committing “s” crimes and, while behind bars, died in an alleged sui-ci d3. The thing is, this kind of news sparks and fuels a lot of curiosity in people, myself included. I read several of these articles and was surprised to see names of individuals I couldn’t associate with Epstein’s wrongdoing.

Unfortunately, nowadays, you’re told to doubt everything and everyone. History has taught us that we’ve been surprised by angelic faces that turned out not to be so angelic. So, seeing those posts left me with many doubts. It seemed quite strong that many people were already condemned just by reading the headlines without considering why their names were coming up.

Luckily, La pinch3 complejidad podcast, which I enjoy, tackled this issue. I found it very interesting how they handled it. They shed light on Alan Dershowitz, Epstein’s lawyer, who has also represented many controversial figures. Turns out he was accused by one of Epstein’s victims but managed to prove his innocence. This topic is fascinating because anyone could have believed in Dershowitz’s guilt just by being associated with Epstein. I won’t spill more about the podcast because it’s really worth listening to and drawing your conclusions.

Reflections that stick with me:

  • Tend to think less in hagiographic profiles (profiles of saints), where someone is a victim and therefore the universal victim and is good and therefore always tells the truth, and people are bad for associating with Trump (or any other character seen as “bad”).
  • Humans are complex, with contradictory impulses. We all have our positive and negative traits, including murderers, violators, or victims.
  • People are hardly ever entirely angels or demons.
  • Watch out for the gossip we create when we only go with the news headlines.
  • Thank you for reading.

Have a great day! 😘
